7.Detailed Estimate [Example]
Detailed Estimate Overview
In this section, the speaker introduces four types of detailed estimates: item rate estimate, supplementary estimate, revised estimate, and repair and maintenance estimate. Each type is explained in detail.
Item Rate Estimate
- Item rate estimate involves preparing an accurate estimate by calculating quantities for each work item separately.
- The process includes determining the total volume of excavation by multiplying its length and depth.
- An abstract of quantities form is used to list item details such as description, dimensions (length, breadth, depth), and total quantity.
- This type of estimate requires creating estimates for each work item individually like excavation, PCC work, RCC work.
Abstract of Cost
- After finding the quantity for each item, an abstract of cost sheet is created with columns for item number, particulars, quantity, unit (volume or cubic meter), unit rate obtained from government schedules.
- The total cost is calculated by multiplying the quantity with the unit rate for each item listed in the abstract of cost sheet.
Revised Estimate
- A revised estimate is prepared when the original sanctioned estimate exceeds more than five percent or if there are changes in rates or material quantities during execution.
- Reasons for variations leading to a revised estimate must be mentioned when resubmitting it to competent authorities.
Supplementary Estimate
- A supplementary estimate is created when additional work or changes are needed during project execution beyond the original scope.
- For example, adding a kitchen to a building plan during construction would require a supplementary estimate submission.
