Scribus PhotoBook Tools

Creating Photo Albums with Scribus

Overview of Scribus Photo Book Tools

  • The Scribus Photo Book Tools is a collection of scripts designed for creating photo album pages in PDF format using the open-source program Scribus.
  • Users must install Scribus version 1.5.6 or higher and download the scripts into the Scribus share scripts folder to utilize these tools.

Setting Up Your Document

  • To begin, open a new document in Scribus based on your printing specifications; an A4 portrait page with 3mm bleeds and 6mm margins is recommended.
  • Run the "Scribus Photo Book Layout Maker" script from the Scribus scripts menu, setting it to one column and two rows while keeping a gap distance of 5mm. Add a text caption positioned 5mm below the frames.

Adjusting Image Frames

  • After setting up the initial layout, select the lower image frame along with its caption and run the "Scribus Photo Book Layout Maker" script again. This time, configure it for two columns and one row while maintaining a gap distance of 5mm and adding another text caption below the frames.
  • Use the edit function to select all items with specific attributes, then right-click to get images and insert them into their respective image frames.

Finalizing Your Page

  • With all image frames selected, execute the "Scribus Script Photo Book Fill" command to center-fill them with images.
