Your Friends in Jannah | Ep. 15 | #JannahSeries with Dr. Omar Suleiman

Choosing Friends Wisely

The company we keep in this world will likely be who we're resurrected with and spend eternity with. Therefore, it is important to choose our friends wisely.

Loving for the Sake of Allah

  • Marvel at people that share some sort of deep religious experience and create bonds unlike any other.
  • Loving someone for the sake of Allah is not like loving anyone else for the sake of anything else.

Aisha's Prayer

  • Aisha was found standing up praying and reading Quran, crying and making Dua.
  • She was reciting an Ayah from Surah Allah repeatedly, which talks about people coming close to one another in Jannah and asking about each other.

Conversations Between Friends in Jannah

When friends that used to worship Allah together enter Jannah, they start to long for one another. They meet reclining on their couches remembering their days and discussing moments when Allah forgave them.

Delights of the People of Paradise

  • Friends visit one another on mounts and camels supplied with noble horses with saddles that do not defecate or urinate.
  • There are friends across generations as well; you get to go visit them as you please.

Discussions Among Righteous Friends

  • Righteous friends discuss things they used to discuss in this life, such as religious knowledge.
  • Students of knowledge continue their discussions in Jannah trying to understand the Quran.

Importance of Knowledge and Companionship in Islam

The Prophet Muhammad emphasized the importance of seeking knowledge and surrounding oneself with righteous companions. He also spoke about the rewards of intercession and how it can help one avoid Hellfire.

Circles of Knowledge

  • The Prophet Muhammad said that circles of knowledge are like Gardens of Paradise on earth.
  • These circles are for people who love the Deen (religion) and love learning about it.
  • Students of knowledge benefit greatly from these circles.

Intercession

  • Intercession is when someone pleads on behalf of another person to gain forgiveness or mercy.
  • There are some people who will enter Hellfire because of their sins, but they will eventually be granted permission for intercession.
  • Those who intercede will pour water on those in Hellfire, allowing them to be brought out in groups.
  • These people will then be spread over the side of rivers in Paradise, where they will grow like seeds after a flood.

Importance of Companionship

  • The Prophet Muhammad warned against being alone, as Shaytan (Satan) is with those who are alone.
  • He encouraged sticking to the Jamara (community) to avoid separation and stay close to righteous companions.
  • Following the example of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions can lead one to Paradise.

Conclusion

Seeking knowledge, striving for righteousness, and surrounding oneself with good company are important aspects of Islam. Intercession can also play a role in avoiding Hellfire.
