• Hades, brother to Zeus and ruler of the Underworld, seeks to manipulate Hercules' fate by consulting the Moirai (Fates), who control human life and foresee that Hercules will thwart Hades' plans in 18 years.

• To conquer the cosmos, Hades must eliminate Hercules. He devises a plan to make him mortal by having his minions kidnap him and force him to drink a potion that would strip him of his divine powers.

• Just before finishing the potion that would render him fully mortal, an unexpected couple interrupts the process. This leads to a critical moment where only one drop remains unconsumed.
